Goldsmith featured speaker at summit on energy and health

Dr. David Goldsmith will be a featured luncheon speaker at a meeting on Promoting Occupational Health: Recognizing and Controlling Risks during Natural Gas Development in Denver, CO, on April 12, 2012. This second annual energy summit, hosted by the Mountain and Plains Education and Research Center at the University of Colorado, brings together academic and government researchers, petroleum engineers, hydrocarbon industry experts, physicians, occupational health and safety professionals to critically evaluate the risks and development strategies to reduce potentially hazardous exposures to employees from natural gas exploration and production.The meeting will be held at the Anschutz Medical Campus at the University of Colorado, Ben Nighthorse Campbell Building in the Shore Family Room.

Dr. Goldsmith’s presentation is titled “Before Fracking Fluids, There is Frack Sand Mining.” He focuses on the rapid development of frack sand mining operations in the Upper Midwest and the associated occupational and environmental health issues.
